Who have we helped?

Communities 2.0 have supported and advised amazing and innovative projects, initiatives and enterprises in digital inclusion activities since 2009.

We have helped community groups set up IT suites; to update their hardware so to improve services to young people; to take on IT tutors and to run innovative and engaging projects to enthuse older people in learning about digital technology.

We've helped organisations update their IT equipment so they can provide a modern teaching environment, to buy and learn to use software which benefits their group, their community and their environment. We've helped organisations learn to update and run their own websites and to work together to train groups of unemployed people in ICT.

G2G Communities 'Reaching Out' Project

The 'Reaching Out' project is based in Marsh Road, Rhyl, and aims to give people aged 50 and over the opportunity to develop various ICT skills.

Awel Aman Tawe

Awel Aman Tawe is a community energy project in South Wales. The project grew out of a community meeting in 1997. They agreed that a community owned wind farm would be an innovative and effective method of bringing profits back into the area through the sale of electricity.

South Merthyr ICT Initiative

The South Merthyr ICT Initiative is made up of the ICT activities available at five community venues in the south Merthyr area. The project also includes outreach support to digitally excluded community groups.

Swansea Telly

Swansea Telly is a community-based internet TV station established by Undercurrents. The project is run by a partnership of five local media and community organisations.

Digital Heritage in the Community

Digital Heritage in the Community is an initiative that aims to deliver fun and practical activities to older people around ICT. The key is to engage people with ICT in ways that are meaningful and relevant to them.

Eagles' Wings Trust

Eagles’ Wings Trust has been set up for the benefit of people with disabilities, ex-members of HM armed forces who have been injured whilst serving their country and for young people (under 25s) who would not otherwise have the opportunity to learn fly and who would benefit from the experience. Communities 2.0 helped them obtain equipment and software to bring their teaching environment up to date.

Gofal Enterprises (Not Just Nuts)

Not Just Nuts (NJN) is part of the trading and enterprise arm of mental health charity Gofal. NJN sells organic and Fair Trade products online, and Communities 2.0 helped them learn how to promote and use their website more effectively.

Menter Iaith Caerffili

Menter Iaith Caerffili (MIC) is a Cyfleoedd Digidol (Digital Opportunities) initiative, developed to apply the Welsh language to IT training (for individuals) and to apply IT to Welsh language businesses and organisations.

MORLO Community Partnership

The Partnership applied to Communities 2.0 for support following research conducted by three community centres in the area that showed people in the area wanted to be trained on computers and the web.

Senghenydd Youth Drop-in Centre

Communities 2.0 stepped in to help SYDIC when their ICT needs overtook the capabilities of their current server. The server was restricting SYDIC's ability to provide their full range of services to young people.

Penywaun Bytes Back is an ICT community project aimed at helping local people learn about and make more use of computers, the internet and other digital technology.

PATCH - Pembrokeshire Action To Combat Hardship

PATCH helps to provide food, toiletries and clothing to families in Pembrokeshire in crisis situations. Communities 2.0 helped PATCH improve their online presence and the ability to communicate with their members and supporters using their website and their Facebook page.

Digital Accessibility Centre

The Digital Accessibility Centre in Neath is a social enterprise that helps to make the websites of businesses and organisation accessible to disabled people. Communities 2.0 has worked with DAC to help increase its capacity in ICT.
